Aitken Double Stars (Catalogue)
Most star systems have at least two stellar bodies, so a great deal of astronomical literature is dedicated to multiple star systems. Astronomer, Robert Grant Aitken (1864–1951 CE), created in 1932 his double star catalog, the identities from which are still widely used. The original title was "New General Catalogue of Double Stars within 120° of the North Pole," but later came to be known simply as the Aitken Double Star Catalogue, or "ADS."
