The Henry Draper (HD) Star Catalog
Henry Draper (18371882 CE), a doctor and amateur astronomer, contributed greatly to early photographic astronomy. After his death, his wife established a memorial fund which was later used to support a photographic stellar spectrum survey named, the Henry Draper Catalog.
The original catalog contained nearly a quarter million stars. The 1949 extension (HDE) added over 100,000 more stars, bringing the total to nearly 360,000 stars.
